An Analysis of Death Be Not Proud by John Donne Essay Sample

The verse form “Death be non Proud” starts off by stating “ Death be non proud though some have called thee. mighty and dreadful for thou art non so. ” John Donne argues that people have a false perceptual experience of decease. Death can merely be powerful if person lets it by fearing decease and allowing it command their lives. Furthermore. the sonnet proclaims decease is nil more than a span that will fall in after we pass. in the sense that decease dies and leads to an ageless life. The talker of the verse form gives the feeling of a confident. spiritual. middle-aged. fearless. surpassing adult male who refuses to let decease to impact his life. He speaks with a tone of voice that is instead proud and uplifting. He uses a metaphor of decease being sleep by saying “From remainder and slumber but thy images be. much pleasance. so from thee. much more must flux. and soonest our best work forces with thee do travel. ”

Death is reasonably much the same as slumber. Sleep causes us much pleasance so since decease is longer it should convey a batch more delight than slumber.
