Captain Ahab

Captain Ahab in the fresh Moby Dick is rather a character. He is the Captain of the whaling ship the Pequod and is out on a ocean trip to kill the great white giant named Moby Dick. Throughout his journey on sea, Ahab maintains concentrate on one thing, and merely one thing, killing Moby Dick. It comes to demo throughout the narrative that a closed-minded adult male is blind to his milieus.

On a whaling mission before, Ahab & # 8217 ; s leg was bitten off by the white giant, and of all time since so, Ahab has focused merely on the retaliation he will acquire when he kills the giant. The captain & # 8217 ; s prosthetic leg is so made out of the lower jaw of Moby Dick. Ahab & # 8217 ; s leg becomes a changeless reminder of the giant, and a changeless motive for his retaliation.

Some might depict that character of Ahab to be insane and at times evil. I do non believe he is insane. In a subdivision of the film, Ahab is seen talking with Starbuck calmly, and really sharing his feelings with the crewmember. These are non actions of an insane adult male. Ahab shows true feeling for Starbuck and his couples. I besides do non believe the captain is an evil character. I do believe he becam

vitamin E obsessed and in a manner infatuated with Moby Dick. He seems to me to be a really ambitious adult male ; there is nil incorrect with desiring and wanting to accomplish a end.

On the other manus, being ambitious, and concentrating so much on one thing in life that you become unsighted, are two different things. Ahab is guilty of this. He lets Moby Dick run his life ; he desires retaliation so severely that it becomes wholly he thinks about, all he cares about, all of him. Ahab even becomes restless at dark because of the giant. It seems to me that Ahab needs Moby Dick to last, yet in return, Ahab wants to kill him.

A lesson is to be learned from Ahab. Keep your eyes open to those around you, and other things that are in your life. If you dwell on the negatives, and of retaliation, you & # 8217 ; re life becomes a waste. Family and friends do non desire to be around you, and you will go an unhappy being. Like Ahab, we all have something that bothers us, which picks at our head, but unlike Ahab, we have to travel on with life. Be cognizant of your milieus and careful non to bury about friends and household, remain unfastened to other thoughts and ne’er brood on one thing that bothers you. Besides, there are other fish in the sea.
