Theories and Therapy

Concept of of a Fully-Functioning Person

Carl Rogers was a clinical psychologist who, in the early portion of the 20th Century, developed the construct of client-centered psychotherapeutics. He was a great advocate of the scientific method and was one of the first to integrate it into psychotherapeutics. His person-centered attack to psychotherapy entailed an unconditioned credence between client and counsellor. And with all this said I still find it phenomenal yet leery that a healer can listen to an person without ejaculations and still aids in bettering the person by doing them a individual.

Rogers felt that the function of the counsellor, teacher or any other person who was responsible for the developing personal adulthood in another, was to assist that individual become fully-functional. Rogers identified five specific classs which were of import in this end. They are the openness to see, experiential life, organismal trusting, experiential freedom and creativeness.

To Rogers to be to the full working was to populate the good life. He defined this end:

& # 8220 ; The good life is a procedure, no

t a province of being. It is a way, non a finish. It is not…a province of virtuousness, or contentment, or nirvana or felicity. It is non a status in which the person is adjusted, or fulfilled or actualized” ( 187 ) .

Rogers hence sees the to the full working individual as a individual who is taking the right way in life, a way which is accelerated by favourable psychological conditions. This way is one in which is available to all individuals and is built-in and omnipresent. They can be enhanced, harmonizing to Rogers, with client-centered therapy.

But even with all this said, I am lacerate between stepping aside from my mundane positions and volitionally accepting the fact that client-centered therapy is the best manner to bring forth an person that will be psychologically on the right way and populating the good life.

Although, Freud & # 8217 ; s efforts at this end were in a different manner, he still achieved redress in many of his patients through psychoanalytic therapy. Not merely did he fulfill most of his patients similarly he passed his methods on to many other psychologists. It is merely my mere feeling that those who do non possess the same intuitive and insightful qualities that Carl Rogers did can non to the full help a client with his signifier of client-centered therapy.
