The System: Police

Before I was to travel and see the constabulary station, in Chambersburg, PA, I guess you could name me nescient. You can state this because I was anticipating to fundamentally see what happens on all of those made up constabulary shows ( i.e. New York Under Cover ) . I was hoping/expecting to see perpetrators walked into the constabulary station, handcuffed and stating all types of vulgar things to the officer who arrested him or her. I besides expected to see around the station and what happens to the arrested people who are brought in ; where do they travel? But what I expected to see and what I saw were two wholly different things.

11:07AM-I walked into the Chambersburg Police Department with outlooks to larn and to witness what goes on in the station. When I walked in, the first thing I did was look around to see the Police environment. There were postings on the wall speaking about DUI and how we can t afford it, and other postings about condemnable activities. I so looked frontward and saw a one manner mirror with a phone beside it. I walked up to the phone and saw that it read, pick up phone for service. So I did merely that. I picked up the phone and heard an officer say, Can I help you? It was so that I told him why I was here and what I was supposed to make. He so told me to hold a place and person would be out shortly, and they would convey me into the chief portion of the station. I hung up the phone and Saturday on the long, L-shaped leather sofa with my notebook in manus. -11:22AM.

11:22AM- I remained on the sofa, waiting for service if you will. Still, cipher came out of, or entered, the door that led to the official Police Station. It was in these 15 proceedingss that I jotted down some inquiries I had ( which I will portion at the terminal of this study ) . 11:37AM.

11:37AM- From 11:37AM to 11:47 AM, I sat at that place patiently waiting to be taken back to the topographic point where everything happens ( or at least see some organic structure walk through the chief entryway ) . Still, I saw nil. 11:48AM- It was at 11:48AM when an officer, Officer James Connelly, walked through the door and told me to come on back. He asked where I was traveling to college and what my major was. I told him, but he didn t seem excessively interested. He told me to hold a place as he pointed to an uncomfortable looking metal turn uping chair. I took my place, and watched him walk off. 11:52AM.

11:52AM- I did nil here but sat and watched some more. 12:07PM

12:07PM- This is when the same officer who took me back, Officer Connelly, told me to follow him. I got up and walked behind him as he said, hey to practically every other officer that walked by us. I so saw a door that said, Officer usage merely and asked him what that was. He kept walking, and told me that it was the door that Officers use to convey in perpetrators. He told me that this was for safety of the populace. He said that if he brought perpetrators in the chief entryway, where people were waiting, and the perpetrator started to shout coarsenesss and started to ptyalize, and some of the tongue got on me, so the Station was responsible for me acquiring spat upon. 12:22PM

12:22PM- It was at T

his clip that the officer took me to a computing machine and asked for my name. I told him, Anthony Joseph Cardinal. He so typed my name into the computing machine and said that I didn Ts have any apprehensions or rushing tickets or any tickets of that sort what so of all time. I nodded and told him that I was pulled over one time, but I was let travel. He so got some despatch over his proctor on his left shoulder and told me that he had to travel. He said I was more than welcome to sit with the secretaries and watch them make their work. So, I walked over to the secretaries and told them what Officer Connelly said, and they told me to come behind the counter and to take a place. 12:37PM

12:37PM- I didn Ts say a word to the secretaries the full clip I was behind the counter. But alternatively, I watched the Officers merely door to see if any perpetrators were traveling to come in. And to my fortune, I saw 1. He was handcuffed and was guided by an Officer. The perpetrator looked normal, if you will. I was anticipating to see a ragged individual with an unshaved face. But he looked to be the entire antonym. 12:52PM

12:52PM- In these last 15 proceedingss, I saw nil except officers leave and officers come. I heard secretaries speaking with people on the phone and people who had to pay parking tickets. 1:07PM

In the beginning of this study, I told you that I expected to see perpetrators come through a door handcuffed and seting up a battle with the bulls, and shouting at the top of their lungs, Injustice! Injustice! or something of that kind. Well, to my surprise, it was NOTHING like that. I fundamentally moved from one sitting location to another, detecting Military officers leave and Officers come. Now possibly I went in at the incorrect clip of the twenty-four hours. Possibly I went into the Station at a clip of the twenty-four hours where there is fundamentally no offense being committed. If this is the instance, so I plan on traveling back to the Station when I return back place at any point. Possibly if I go in, some of the Officers will acknowledge me and be a small more affecting with my state of affairs. So, from what I have seen at this Police Station, I can state that it was non what I expected. I am non stating that I am disappointed in this portion of the system. I am merely stating that possibly I caught them on a bad twenty-four hours, or a bad clip of the twenty-four hours, and that I am traveling to hold to return that exact Station to see this. During the clip I was at the Station, I thought of a few inquiries to inquire following clip I go back.

So, in decision, I would state that my visit to the Station gave me a small better apprehension of the manner the Police System works. Although I am non wholly in the visible radiation of the state of affairss of the Police, on my following return I will be better informed about the Police and how they work.
