Character Analysis of Mr Jones Animal Farm Essay Sample

Mr Jones is the first character we hear of in the book. Our first feeling of him which is confirmed subsequently on in the book is of a rummy. careless and irresponsible husbandman. Unfortunately because for his sloppiness the animate beings suffer and this is the ground why they rebel. We can see the bad consequence that this had on the animate beings in:

Chapter 1 -“was excessively drunk to retrieve to close the pop-holes”
Chapter 2 -“so that when flushing came. the animate beings were still unfed” In this book Mr Jones is potraying Tsar Nicholas II. who sometimes due to his failings. hoggishness and egoism left the Russian people hungering from hungriness and cold due to the many errors he caused by doing bad determinations during his reign. Just like the Tsar. Mr Jones wasn’t ever similar that as before he was a capable and responsible husbandman. but it is aftermath that he becomes an alcoholic and rough towards his animate beings. In Old Major’s speech Mr. Jones and his married woman are besides represented as a animal that takes everything for itself and gives nil back in return. Old Major reinforces this when he says “Man is the lone animal that consumes without bring forthing. ” and “he gives the bare minimal …… . and the remainder he keeps for himself” The writer Orwell besides portrays the image of egoism in this character. when the cow and the other animate beings broke into the shed to acquire some nutrient to eat. Mr Jones alternatively of traveling in the farm and commanding the state of affairs. he and his work forces went “with whips in their hands” . as if they were fixing for a battle which in fact did happen but in favor of the ill-fed animate beings.

In my sentiment what Mr Jones suffered due to his egoism and sloppiness can besides be a message to all the people in the whole universe that all work forces are equal and that we are giving more attending to make mercenary things in our lives and non giving adequate importance to our duties. precedences and values.
