A Doll House

I feel that this drama was a great reading of what is was like to be a affluent concern adult male. The drama shows that even the wealthy have jobs and are non populating the perfect lives that people think they are. There are many complex relationships in this drama between the character of Nora.

First there is her relationship with Krogstad. Krogstad loaned Nora a amount of money, so she would be able to salvage her ill hubbies life. However no adult female could subscribe a legal contract at the clip so Nora s male parent had to subscribe the contract in order for her to acquire the money. Nora knew that her male parent was deceasing so she forged his signature.

Next there is her relationship with her hubby Torvald. Nora told Torvald that she got the money from her male parent.

So right off we find out that Nora has lied to two people, one of whom is her ain hubby. She lies to Torvald about the loan because he would be afraid that the remainder of the town would happen out and that would kill his self-respect. Torvald feels that there is no adult male who gives up award for love.

When Nora finds out that Krogstad learned what she had done and threatens to state Torvald if he gets fired, She goes from a spoilt married woman without a attention in the universe to a adult female life in fright of what Torvald might happen out.

Nora ne’er had to care for anything her whole life. She was spoiled by both her male parent and her hubby. She didn t even have to care for her kids. She merely played with them when it was convenient with her.

When Torvald finds out what his married woman has done he blows up in an indignation

. Shortly after reading the first missive another missive arrives, it is from Krogstad stating that the loan did non hold to be paid back. Nevertheless Nora decides to go forth Torvald, stating that she doesn t even know him and he ne’er understood her.

In my sentiment I think that Nora did the right thing. She was waiting for what she called a miracle to come true. When Torvald said that he would be by Nora s side no affair what happened, he truly meant he would stand by her every bit long as his repute wasn T on the line.

I feel that there are two chief subjects in this drama love and duty. Nora thinks that she is in love with Torvald. She besides thinks that Torvald is in love with her. But when it is clip for her to stand by her, and she realizes that his repute is the most of import thing to him, she realizes that it is non her he is in love with it s his doll he loves. Once she realizes this she feels she has no pick but to go forth him and seek to go the individual she wants to be, non the doll her male parent and Torvald had.

The following subject is duty. Nora was surely being responsible by paying back her loan the best she could. Torvald on the other manus showed no duty when it was clip for him to stand by his married woman like he said he would. At hhe same clip I feel that Nora was irresponsible for merely walking out on seven old ages of matrimony and her kids, Without warning.

Overall I feel that if any actions that happened in this drama happened in today s society the punishment wouldn T be about as rigorous. But I can understand what Nora was traveling through and wholly understand the grounds for all of her actions.
