After reading and reexamining this chapter I believe that during “The Age of Reform” the 19th amendment was the most of import. The 19th amendment gave adult females the right to vote and ended the battle for adult females right to vote. The 19th amendment was passed by Congress on June 4th. 1990 and subsequently ratified on August 18th. 1920. it guaranteed all American adult females the right to vote ( 1 ) . Reaching this milepost took decennaries of activism and protest.

The motion that finally helped congress go through the 19th amendment was the adult females suffrage motion. Some of the cardinal militants were Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. besides known as the original writers of the 19th amendment ( 2 ) . In 1848. militants for women’s rights launched on a national degree with their convention in Seneca Falls. New York ( 3 ) . The adult females suffrage motion argued that. “the right adult females needed above every other… was the right of right to vote ( 1 ) . ” After the convention the adult females began to demand ballots by raising consciousness to the populace and lobbing the authorities to allow adult females the right to vote ( 3 ) . Between when the amendment was foremost introduced to congress in 1878 to when it was ratified in 1920 adult female fought invariably until they reached their end. It was a long conflict for the adult females. taking about 40 old ages before Congress even considered signing the 19th amendment. On August 18th. 1920. the 19th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution gave adult females the right to vote—a right known as adult female right to vote ( 3 ) .
