In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon. the writer shows that Christopher non merely knows that he is different. but that he wants to be ‘normal’ . Christopher has autism. and because of his trouble interacting with people he is frequently seen as unusual. In pages 198-200. Christopher describes one of his favourite dreams. Mark Haddon uses this chance to depict. from Christopher’s point of position. the universe that Christopher wishes he lived in. Christopher realizes that he is different from other people. and he wishes he lived in a universe where he was normal. But he doesn’t wish that he was like everyone else. he wishes that the lone other people in the universe are people like him. with autism. In the dream. about everyone on Earth is dead from a computing machine virus. and the lone 1s that survived are autistic people. “And finally there is no 1 left in the universe except people who don’t look at other people’s faces and who don’t know what these images mean ( Haddon includes here several images of faces showing different emotions ) and these people are all particular people like me. ” ( p. 198-199 ) . In this quotation mark. we see that Christopher would wish to be normal by holding everyone else be like him.
Christopher likes to be entirely. and in his dream he describes the sort of universe where he could be entirely all the clip. Christopher is happy because he no longer faces the jobs he does in his life. and he can be whatever he wants to be.
