This curst war has separated me from you. I can non travel through a twenty-four hours without
thought of you And the minutes we shared with each other. Through the ungratified darks
of this apparently eternal conflict, nil gives me peace, but the idea of you being in

As I write to you, we are come oning to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to prosecute
Confederate military personnels who are determined to cut off Washington, D. C, from the remainder of the
Union. We are being lead by General George Meade, who is one of the bravest of
persons on this conflict field & # 8230 ; .We have taken defensive place along a ridge South of
the town and program to
force the Confederates to attack….My custodies are trembling….I am
nervous & # 8230 ; .I have received word that the Confederate ground forces ( lead by George Pickett ) come
by the 1000s and are determined to interrupt this line & # 8230 ; .I must acquire a clasp of myself & # 8230 ; . I
will do it through this conflict and be with you once more. I will go on on, even if takes
infinity to be with you once more.
It is the 2nd twenty-four hours of this conflict in Gettysburg. Bodies lay dead by the 100s
and the malodor of disintegrating organic structures is overpowering. The Confederate ground forces continue
