Categories Of Abiru In Ancient Rwanda Essay Sample
In political and administrative system of ancient Rwanda. Abiru or the defenders of esoteric codifications were of import functionaries at the tribunal of the male monarch. They served as the advisors of the male monarch. they kept royal secrets. they controlled the symbol of royal power like the dynastic membranophone. and they enthroned a new male monarch. Their establishment was called ubwiru. All the Abiru were non equal. There was something like hierarchy among them. Mentioning to their power and maps. Abiru were classified as below: * The Abiru- male monarchs: They were two abiru: The first was from Abatsobe household. He was the first powerful Umwiru and was the 2nd after the male monarch. This Umwiru was the caput of the national ceremonial of Umuganura. The 2nd Umwiru- male monarch was the Umwiru from Nyamweru ( topographic point ) . He was from Abakono kin.
* The Umwiru from Abatege household: He was the 2nd Umwiru in charge of coronation of the male monarchs and the Abiru- male monarchs
* The pastoralist Umwiru from Abaheka household: he was in charge of taking attention of the military personnels of royal cattles. He was the 3rd in the hierarchy of Abiru.
* The Umwiru of the dynastic membranophone Kalinga: he was the 4th umwiru. He was from Abakobwa household. He was the leader of all the group of all Abiru. This state of affairs was confirmed under the reign of king CYILIMA I RUGWE. but during this period the royal membranophone was called Rwoga.
* The Umwiru of the membranophone Cyimumugizi: He was the 5th umwiru. He was from Abatandura household. He was the defender of the royal membranophone ; Cyimumugizi
* The Forging Umwiru: He was the 6th umwiru in the hierarchy. He was from Abenemuhinda household. He kept the dynastic hummer. These hummers played a important function in the ceremonial of burying the King.
* The Umwiru in charge of maintaining the apparels ( imyeko ) of deceased queen female parents. He was the 7th and he was from Abakuna household.
* There were other cathegoris of Abiru in charge of the followers. Umwiru in charge of conserving the royal fire
. Umwiru in charge of guarding royal graves. etc.
Niobium:
Among all these Abiru. there were three of import Abiru called: Abiru b’ijambo who were in charge of cognizing the name of the replacement of the male monarch. Two of them were: The head of Abatsobe kin. the other was the head of Abatege household. The 3rd should be a strong head of the ground forces in order to forestall any succession difference among the princes.
