Mairs tone in this essay displacements from being humourous to being serious all throughout. Like how she goes from speaking about how when her household invites people over they treat her like a normal human being and even laugh at some of her gags. to speaking about how she does non desire people to make things for her because they feel regretful for her or merely kick being bogus.
