Due to his carelessness and occasional hazard of his kids. many people dislike Rex Walls. They think he’s an atrocious. unfit parent. However. Rex was a loving. caring male parent who teaches his childs of import values. with many positive rearing traits who merely messes up from clip to clip. The reader can see how much Rex attentions when he gives his childs stars for Christmas because he doesn’t have money for plaything. Rex says. “Years from now. when all the debris [ the other childs ] got is broken and long forgotten. you’ll still hold your stars” ( Walls 41 ) . Looking back at her childhood. Jeannette frequently says that Rex giving her Venus is one of her fondest memories.
Rex was about ever positive about negative things. He ever liked to look at state of affairss as escapades vs. adversities. Giving his kids stars when money’s tight is a good illustration of seeking to be positive about something negative. When Rex woke them all up in the center of the dark and told them they had to go forth. he would do it sound adventuresome. He would state that the FBI or the Mafia was after them. This is because he wants to remain with them. ( effort to ) supply for them. and protect them.
Rex is an exceeding parent is because of values he teaches his childs ; he besides gives them hope. Jeanette started roll uping stones. “ [ Dad ] told me that he had his bosom set on purchasing a peculiar piece of rose vitreous silicas but didn’t have the six hundred dollars I was bear downing. so I cut the monetary value to five 100s and allow him hold it on recognition. ” By making this.
