The Causes Of World War I Essay
, Research Paper
The first universe war had many causes, the historiographers
likely have non yet discovered and discussed all of them
so there might be more causes than what we know now. In
this essay I would discourse the chief causes of the war? the
1s that were discussed in the text edition. In the clip before
the war? s eruption ( before 1914? in the beginning of the
century ) the universe was separated into large imperiums that had
settlements around the universe ( European states ruled most of
Africa ) . There were battles and dissensions between the
major imperiums. Normally, when there are many statements
between states, people start fright of war and prepare for
it ( for illustration, today in Israel, after Benjamin Netanyahu
winning the elections, Israel? s policy towards the Arabs and
the Palestinians have changed. There is fear from war with
Syria, because of menaces from both sides, so both states
arm themselves and ready for war, merely in instance it would
interruption ) . In the beginning of the century Britain was the largest
imperium in the universe, it besides had the largest naval forces. The naval forces
was so large and strong because the Britons needed to protect
their imperium and keep the sea routes between the
different settlements. The Kaiser William II of Germany hated
and envied Britain for holding a stronger navy than his. He
increased the German naval forces and built many war vessels. Britain
responded with edifice more ships and increasing its naval forces
excessively. This started a race for constructing more and better
war vessels and it created tenseness and competition between
those two states. Germany and France were challengers for
centuries and at the beginning of the century and at the terminal
of the nineteenth century the competition increased. This happened
because of the war between those two states in 1870-71
when Germany defeated France. Germany took over the
countries of Alsace and Lorraine and the Gallic people wanted
to avenge Germany and retrieve those lands. France could
non get down a war against Germany since Germany had more
resources and a stronger ground forces than France. France needed
Alliess to assist it fight ( the topic of confederations would be
discussed subsequently ) . There was another wrangle between France
and Germany? about commanding Morocco. In 1905 France
idea that it should hold more influence in the western
Mediterranean Sea country as it already controlled Tunisia and
Algeria, it wanted Morocco excessively. The Kaiser of Germany
visited Tangier ( a large metropolis in Morocco ) and said that
Germany would protect Morocco in instance of a Gallic
onslaught. In 1911 France increased its control over Morocco
and Germany sent a war vessel. The Germans withdrew at last
but the Gallic gave them a portion of Western Africa in
exchange. These two incidents increased the tenseness
between France and Germany. Austria-Hungary was a large
imperium in southern-eastern Europe, it included eleven chief
nationalities. In the ninetieth and 20th patriotism was
going a powerful force in Europe so people that had the
same civilization, linguistic communication ( normally ) , etc wanted their ain
state. This was a job for the authorities of
Austria-Hungary that did non desire to lose their power and
control. The Slavs in the southern portion of the imperium were
their chief concern since they wanted to fall in up to Serbia.
This, they thought, would take to a break-up of the imperium
( this finally happened after the war ) . In 1908
Austria-Hungary have taken over Bosnia. The Serbs wanted
it excessively, and Russia was on their side, but Germany declared
that they would assail Russia if it would assail
Austria-Hungary. This was because of the understandings
between Austria-Hungary and Germany and it besides made
them stronger
( the confederations would be discussed subsequently ) . This
besides led to the Sarajevo slaying that would, excessively, be
discussed subsequently. In 1912 and 1913 the Balkan states had
battles among themselves and against the Ottoman Empire.
First, in 1912, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece
attacked the Ottoman Empire and took big parts of land
from it. After the war was over these states fought one
against each other about the manner they would portion the
conquered land. After the battles Serbia became a stronger
state than it was earlier. This increased the frights in the
Austro-Hungarian authorities. There were confederations
between different states in Europe & # 8211 ; when a state feels
a menace it looks for friends to assist it. The confederations between
the strong states were what divided Europe into two
armed cantonments where the smaller states were connected to
the confederations, but non official members. This thing created the
danger of immense ground forcess clashing into each other and doing
immense devastation. This can go on even because of a little
incident that can do all the Alliess that are committed to
assist their other Alliess join the war ( this was the instance in this
war ) . There were two chief confederations in Europe: the? Triple
Alliance? or the? Cardinal Powers? ( included Germany,
Austria-Hungary and Italy ) and? Entente Powers? or the
? Allies? ( included France, Russia and Britain ) . The? Triple
Alliance? or the? Cardinal Powers? were foremost formed as
Germany and Austria-Hungary became Alliess in 1879 and
three old ages subsequently Italy joined them. The? Entente Powers? or
the? Allies? were formed as France became and ally of
Soviet union in 1892 and in 1904 and 1907 Britain entered into
ententes with France and so Russia. The blackwash of
the Austrian archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo in 1914
was the flicker that ignited the First World War. On June 28
the archduke and his married woman were driving in the streets of
Sarajevo. As the auto all of a sudden stopped and reversed a
Serbian pupil named Gavrilo Princip shot them. He was
supported by a Serbian secret society called the? Black
Hand? . In my sentiment one can non do a statement of one
individual most important cause since a individual can non state that
one cause is more of import than another. This is because if
one thing would non hold happened, as little and
unimportant as it might look, the action would non hold been
the same. Since I was asked to set the most of import cause
in my sentiment I would set it, but it is a bit general. The
patriotism and imperialism were the most of import causes,
in my sentiment, since imperiums do non allow the national groups in
their states have their ain states, as they should hold.
Besides, imperiums ever want to spread out and suppress other
states so they would go stronger and more
powerful. Austria-Hungary was an imperium? and it collapsed
into smaller states after the first universe war, like the
Ottoman imperium, which was divided between France and
Britain. In the two decennaries after the Second World War
Britain and France separated from their settlements. The
USSR, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia separated into
smaller states in and after 1989. In this century
patriotism and the terminal of imperialism was go oning all
around the universe, it was a chief cause for many wars
( including the First World War ) . To reason I can state that
there were many grounds for the eruption of the First World
War and non all of them were discussed here. Merely the chief
and most clear causes were discussed, and non as they
should be presented ( the right manner to show them in a good
research in my sentiment is to set some grounds excessively, non merely
write everything down as facts ) .
