The Perfect Anti-hero Essay Sample

Imagine a hero. What does he look like? A bald. old. fat adult male or a immature. athletic adult male? Probably the 2nd 1. Both of these descriptions. nevertheless. are supposed to portray an anti-hero named John Anderton from the novella Minority Report. An anti-hero is the exact antonym of what you would believe a hero to be. Anti-heroes have features such as selfishness. paranoia. and fright. All of these features were shown by John Anderton in the book version of Minority Report. but non so much in the movie.

In the book Minority Report. John Anderton is an old adult male who is fearful of many things. This is shown instantly at the beginning of the book when he is afraid that his new adjunct Danny Witwer is traveling to be taking over his occupation. Because of this. John didn’t take much of a liking to him. Soon after that. he reads a card that the pre-cogs have merely made in which his name is listed as a future liquidator. When he sees this. he fears that he is traveling to kill Witwer. This leads him to overthink the state of affairs and go paranoiac.

John Anderton begins to believe that Witwer has set him up. He thinks that Witwer somehow put his name on the card so he would slay him and lose his occupation. When John tells his married woman about this. she proves him incorrect by demoing him that the victim’s name on the card is non Witwer’s. The name on the card was Leopold Kaplan ; a adult male John had ne’er even heard of earlier. This led him to go even more paranoid than earlier. If it wasn’t Witwer who set him up. so who was it?
