In the book, Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger, Holden
Caufield, the chief character is a negatively charged individual,
doesn & # 8217 ; t want himself or others around him to turn up, and
suffers from depression because of his brothers decease. This is
evidently Holden & # 8217 ; s manner of estranging the full universe and
detaining the effects of confronting world. Alienation is a large
subject in Catcher In The Rye, and something that Holden
depends on most frequently.
Holden Caufield is a negatively charged character as
expressed on the first page of the book before Holden
Tells his sentiment about his childhood. He says, & # 8220 ; If you truly
privation to hear about it, the first thing you & # 8217 ; ll likely want to
know is where I was born, and what my icky childhood was
like & # 8230 ; & # 8221 ; ( Pg. 1 ) Holden shows here that he was negative and

is what causes these unwanted character traits of Holden & # 8217 ; s.
Holden is besides a hostile character who attributes his negativeness
to barricade out others around him, and to detain the fact that he
so will hold to confront world sometime. Holden & # 8217 ; s form of
address, the changeless look of negativeness, is a character
trait Holden possesses that shows the inner hurting he feels.
Holden truly shows that he does non desire to turn up
and he does non desire other kids to turn up either. Holden
believes that all grownups are hypocrites, like Principal Thurmer.
Holden hates hypocrites and that & # 8217 ; s why he doesn & # 8217 ; t want kids
to turn up, do they won & # 8217 ; t go hypocrites. Holden & # 8217 ; s hatred
towards grownups is due to his brother & # 8217 ; s decease. Holden
likely slightly blames his parents for non halting his

because of this. Holden believes that he can non depend on
grownups because they are hypocrites like Principal Thurmer.
Holden & # 8217 ; s inability to accept turning up causes much
depression for Holden and makes Holden suicidal. At what

little insanity on top of his being self-destructive. Holden likely in
some manner blames himself for his brother & # 8217 ; s decease due to non
ever allowing Allie drama with him when they were small. Holden
feels like perpetrating self-destruction at one clip which shows the true
deepness of Holden & # 8217 ; s depression. Holden & # 8217 ; s deep depression
comes from his disaffection towards people in general, the manner
he refuses to allow others deep in his bosom and his inability to
accept certain things such as his brother & # 8217 ; s decease. Holden
severely needs closing on his brother & # 8217 ; s decease so he can free
himself of his deep depression and travel on to necessarily turn up
like the remainder of the universe.
In decision, Holden is a negative character, had yet to
recognize that everyone has to turn up sometime, and suffers
from possible clinic depression due to miss of closing on his
brother & # 8217 ; s decease. Holden & # 8217 ; s disaffection towards the universe is
clearly what brings on this rejective personality of Holden & # 8217 ; s.
Another facet of Holden that drives this personality of his is
his alienation towards confronting world. This can most likely
be compared to many people in the existent universe which is merely one
of the grounds why Catcher In The Rye, is such a fantastic
book. Until people like Holden realize that turning up is an
inevitable action in one & # 8217 ; s life and that confronting world is a must to
survive life, so those people will be stuck in the universe of
falsehood where no individual can be successful and where
fates can non be pursued until the realisation that these are
merely phases in life that must be completed is met.
